Hello everyone

On the last Weekend we held our meet to the "long Heinrich ." This meeting was a tribute to the most famous ore Train in germany, 50 ore wagons pulled by two locomotives of class 44, an oil fired and a coal-fired three cylinder locomotive. We had a very good time on the track of the Steam Club in the Taunus near Frankfurt. During this meeting we also set a record, our narrow gauge locomotive class 99 a 2-10-2 with a class 56 a 2-8-0 pulled 81 cars with 304 axles. The old record was 258 axles but drawn by four (!) Class 55 locomotives 2-8-0. This meeting has been an absolute highlight this year and will not be outbid any time soon.

Amazing Chris. just getting that many coal cars surprised me.

Not to rain on your parade but in the USA I think the record was 250 cars.

for german railroad , it was the haviest train with 4000 tons.

Hey Harold,

all the hopper cars are from 5 or 6 live steamers from germany and swiss. The biggest part with 25 ore cars are from a swiss guy .

First thanks to Chris for your fine video!
This event was the reason to bring back to life (and paint ) my old DB class 44 fuel (043) during the last months. That old friend of mine, builder of that strong going 44 1263, celebrated and enjoyed his 80th birthday this way!
Thus my A was to wait some time for it's final finishing .
We all had so much fun . Just two or three minor derailments happend despite curving and a ruling grade of 1 to 1.5 %
The prototype iron ore train of 4.000 t (4.300 tons) ran by steam as long as late 1977 from the habour Emden towards the steel mills in the south.
Those classes 44, built back in 1926 for the first time, were the equivalant of a GP 9 flat. Not as big as US-engines, but likely the most capable and long living freight steamers in Europe.
