The Home Machinist!

Looks like I'm on another wild goose chase. This time I'm trying to find any information on Baguley's modified valve gear of 1895. So far all I've found is some very rough descriptions. ANY help on this one would be appreciated. There are supposed to be diagrams in articles "The Bagnall Valve Gears" by Ray Stephens from engineering in miniature from August-Sept. 1988. There is also one locomotive left that has this gear, but unfortunately for me it's all the way across the Atlantic. Thank you to anyone that can provide any information/pics/measurements.

Thank you, in my quest I have seen that video as well as a couple others. However, that is Baguley's first, unmodified gear. There is a short description and some old photos here Figures 3 and 4 https://www.irsociety.co.uk/Archives/11 ... _gears.htm but no useful diagrams or anything. I've also tried contacting the railway that owns the loco in question with no answer.

I should have the EIM articles and there are also a couple of articles in Model Engineer. I'll hunt them out when I get chance and let you have copies.

Although my surnames the same, I doubt if there is any relation! I do live only a few miles from Burton on Trent though where Baguley Engineering was based
