Who Sell Economy Butterfly Fire Box Door

Post by heislerboy »

Who sells Economy Butterfly Door for 2.5-inch scale locomotives? I am curtly building a 2.5” scale 2-8-0 and would be needing one for my locomotive.

I would check with Tom Artzberger. I’m pretty sure he at least has castings for them

That's not a Butterfly - that's a Clamshell.

Tom Artzberger does not carry them, they use to be sell by RidgWay Roundhouse Products but know one can get a hold of Paul Lavacot and he won't get back to anybody. I am welling to buy a used one if it has all the parts and plans for it.

Oh, yeah Ridgeway is gone. I don’t know anybody who can get a response from them.
Maybe someone here has drawings and you can make one from bar stock

Hello My Friends
Anyone have a drawing of this door? I would like a copy if you do. I looked in my books and I can find drawings of everything but this door. That looks like something that would be fun to make.

Who makes a basic over sized butterfly door for coal fired 1.5 scale locos?

Tom Artzberger did sell these in the past. I have a set he designed and made casting for. Worth asking him if he’ll make more.

Jack, do you mean the butterfly or the clamshell door?

What about Jeff Smith (Branchline Products)?
He builds a 2.5" scale D&RGW narrow gauge C-25 and use such a Fire Box Door on his engine.

As far as I know Jeff's C-25 is in 1 1/2" scale. But he very well may have drawings as he offers a complete drawing package for the C-25.

I'm sure, Jeff's C-25 is definitely 2.5" scale.
I own his D&RGW C-25 Drawings, but the fire door is unfortunately not in the book. :-(
