Pics of my loco construction

Post by RossB »

Maybe somebody's interested in the loco I'm building. 5148 belongs to a nondescript class of "Standard Goods" engines in NSW Australia introduced before 1900, clanking about to the end of steam in 1972. They are special to me having, at age ten, been dragged by the scruff of the neck onto the footplate of one going past and told to "open the throttle boy"!
My model of 5148 is as she appeared in the 1960's not much different to original form, still saturated but with the addtion of shunter's ladder, larger compressor, "pop" safetyvalves and stuff like that. The gauge is 5 inches (very popular in Oz) and the scale 1 1/8" to the foot.
Been working on it for 18months now with probably 18 more to go. Try to do something everyday even if only for an hour or so. If you do that, you gotta get there eventually! 5148 is my eleventh steamer since the first at age 16. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Ross, looks to this old gray head that all you need to do to complete that beauty is to throw some paint on it and coal in the firebox to hit the rails. Shouldn't take no 18 months to do that.

Ross:

Magnificent! Thanks for taking the time to post your
photos. I love construction photos. Plus, it isn't often
us folk up here in the states ever hear about what's
going on down in New South Wales. Let us know how
it goes.

If your loco is a white box with a red X in it then its looking good. Otherwise has my Internet engine got a leg out of bed?

Jim, Did you click on the little web page thingie at the bottom of the posting? If you did and all you got is that little white box and red X, then surely your browser is still partly abed cause he has a real beauty under construction.. Wake it up and try again in the morning.

When I click on the link all I get is a login page for Kodak ofoto. <sp?> Is this something I have to sign up for to view, or am I missing something? I'm not familiar with their service.

Very nice work, looking good! Did you build the boiler yourself or did you send it out to someone else to build it? As for the picture problem someone was having, you have to join the ofoto thingamabobber in order to get into the gallery to view the pics that have been posted. Later.

I too, like TrotFox from Big D, can only access the Ofoto home page. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help?
