Rail Bender for steel Rail?

Post by wolkowis »

Hi,
I'm sure this question has come up on the old board, but I could not find it.
Does anybody know of plans for building a rail bender for 1.5 scale Steel West Coast Rail?
Thanks,
Jay

I've seen one somewhere, just can't remember where. Never needed a bender with bar stock rail.

There was a design in Live Steam magazine a few years back. Alberta Model engineering Society is using one for their ground level 7 1/2" track. Try contacting them at their website www.ironhorsepark.com.

Check the archives on the old board or EMail Bruce Mowbray. I believe he as a picture posted on his home page.

Yes,
I have a rail bender for aluminum rail but I don't see why is couldn't be used for steel rail. Aluminum bends so easily that I don't even have to use the crank handle to drive the rail through...I just push it though by hand. One could make the same bender and make steel rollers instead of aluminum.

See attachments for the pic of the bender
OK Lets see if this works instead. I loaded the pic into the attchment
