Ok is this what you wanted to see?

Yes the pilot is off, one of the many things to be updated.

And David R the stand works great, but the casters are not the best
for the rough driveway. I will need to find better ones later. Sorry Jim.
and yes this thing IS a beast.

I'm not among the doubters, but thanks for the photo. That is a monster.

Thanks for the earlier photo showing how you did the drop pit. My stand has a space cut out of the rails for the same purpose, but I hadn't decided how to attach the rail (actually square tubing).

Wow, that's a big sucker...

I haven't seen many if any locos of that wheel configuration. I hope one day to build a Selkirk (CPR 2-10-4)...I know there were many names for 2-10-4, would that one be a Texas type?

Very nice, thanks for posting those pictures.

Pensy Fan, this a remarkable piece of machinery. It has so much detail that it looks very, very authentic. Thanks for pictures. Vic

Andrew:

The first 2-10-4 wheel arrangement loco's were built for the Texas & Pacific Railroad by Lima during the late 1920's. That's why they're called the "Texas" or "Texan" type here in the U.S. One of the T&P's I-1 class loco's, #610, survived and is kept at the Texas State Railroad in Palestine. 610 is the same loco that pulled the "Freedom Train" through Texas on that leg of it's trip during the mid-1970's.... Hasn't run since the Southern leased during the late '70's, early '80's for it's steam program.

610's a nice looking engine.... Saw it leave Birmingham around 1980 on one of it's last excursions while on a trip back here to Alabamie to visit some of the "Kinfolk."

Here's a link to a picture of T&P 610:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=97191

The Santa Fe leased out a few of their 5011-class 2-10-4's (like Lew's engine in the pics above) to the Pennsy during the 1940's. The 2-10-4's that the Pennsy built for themelves were basically a copy of the Santa Fe's engines.

TRIVIA:

How about a 4-10-6 with Poppet Valves?... With a tender truck with a booster engine with SIDE rods? One was proposed by the T&P, but was never built. Was called the "Alamo" class. I've got a copy of Lima's tentative specification book for the engine.

Unfortunately, not at this time.... And it looks like it will be that way 'til the twelfth of never.

Almost all of my stuff is packed up. Still waiting until I am able to finally start my move. That's the twelfth of never scenerio.

By the way re: T&P 4-10-6....

As I remember, the "Alamo" was originally spec'd out with Baker valve gear. There was a valve layout/arrangement drawing, which I have personally seen a copy of, made of a poppet valve version/upgrade design .

LL: Thanks for the info. Wow, those counterweights are huge on that loco...

Pennsy Fan: If I may ask a few questions:
What kind of loads have you pulled with that loco?
What's the cylinder bore/stroke?
Do you know how much weight is on the drivers?

Thanks,
Andrew

CBREW:

Forgot to tell you that the T&P "Alamo" would have resembled their 2-10-4's in appearance.... Slightly more modern looking.

Check the link that I put on one of earlier replies to see a fairly recent picture of T&P 610.
