Post by Steamin »

I'm with Harlock -- I haven't finished any engines yet, so here I am with my acquired 1" 1956 LE 0-4-0 switcher.

I know its not steam but it got me on the rails last year while I'm building the Mogul. The Mogul will be done sometime this summer, especially for our club Hobo Run in Sept. Bill W.

Pictures of me?

Post by Steve Bratina »

I don't take a good picture, or look good in public but here are some shots.
The first is me and my dad at the Southwick fall meet in 1991. I had less grey hair back then.
The next shot is one of me finishing up installing one of the 16 new stays in my chum's American Abell three wheel traction engine.
The last is a pretty good representation of how I looked at work. I do some teaching now so I use this picture to warn the students to be careful of who you ask questions to about high pressure steam.

Here is a shot taken of me several years ago at Three Bridges, NJ. I had just brought a ballast train to that spot to re-ballast the track after a major derailment.

From several years ago. Compared to today the body was lighter and the hair was darker.

Hi Bill, sorry, I haven't been here for a while. That's a pin on a driver from a Rogers 0-4-0T, built 1913, so one of the last to come out of the Rogers works. We got it out of a park, the pins looked like a moonscape.

The machine is a borrowed vintage portable crankpin lathe, was needing some repairs when it got to us. We heard it came off the D&RGW, that would have made sense, given it's size, and it would have been REAL nice to have a flycrank counterweight to set up off of. Fixing teh machine was one of the usual Savannah Roundhouse jobs, it ended up I had to fix a screwdriver to fix the electrical receptacle to fix the .......... well, you get the idea.

The lathe had a large pucker factor attached, but the pins came out great, I hit them with a scotchbrite wheel after turning, it looked like someone who knew what they were doing had done it!
