Karlson Model Products

Post by tsph6500 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 4:48 pm

Does anyone know anything about Karlson Model Products, a supplier from years gone by?

There are two names on the brake gear instruction sheet I have. Wm. F. Addison and Paul A. Karl.
Best regards,

Yes I do

Paul Karl was a salesman of hobby products. He worked for a company in Philadelphia.

Bill Addison was a pattern maker and was also Paul’s cousin. They started Karlson model products in the mid 70ies. They later sold the business to Cannonball.

Sounds like the typical live steam start-up company. Do you recall their products? The instruction sheet for the brake gear refers to a KMP chassis.

Thanks for the info. Its good to keep as much of this knowledge out there so it doesn't get lost in the past.

Most of the Cannonball line is from Karlson KMP. Cannonball also bought out Koster Supply from Bill Koster around the same time. Since then Cannonball has added some other products.

KMP also made the “Little Mack” and the “little Gasser”

The chassis that is mentioned is a cast aluminum under frame for cars.
