Unfortunately neither of these patents (1801441 and 1753297) pertain to the multi-poppet, multi-port throttle.
The poppet valves are operated in sequence as a cam shaft is rotated by the throttle lever system extending back to the cab,
I have the illustrations from the American Throttle company advertisement as shown in the 1947 Encyclopedia.
Nothing beyond this so far.

Ok, there are some patents there related to multiple throttles, could be one of those. When I searched on American Throttle Company as the assignee, I got 28 hits. It's likely there.

here is a picture of what a Hudson cab would look like back in the days of steam. note that each appliance is labled. directly from Alco. this would be standard of most J1's and J3's.
