Wagner Hudson enjoys it's 50th birthday....

Post by Mike Walsh »

...or birthYEAR....

WF&P #535, formerly WF&P #350, just returned to service yesterday after a flue collapsed in late 2008.

WF&P #350 was formerly a streamlined Wagner Jubilee (4-4-4), with original Wagner streamlining. Unfortunately I don't have any good photos, however I can direct intrigued readers to the following link, showing ALCOSTEAM's photo of #350: http://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/vie ... hp?t=77047 (the daylight liveried locomotive).

#350 became #535 when another driver set was added, thus converting her into a Hudson. Her streamlining was left off, and she was a barebones hudson.

In late 2008, she went down for boiler repairs. When the boiler was returned, it was reinstalled, some modifications made (due to some misaligned factors), then it was decided to put her streamlining back on. The reapplication of her streamlining (albeit lengthened) really stands out, and she fires well.

See the following videos of her run yesterday:

She was a bit slippery, due to the realignment of the boiler, and lack of a sander. Hopefully the sander will return to service in the next few weeks.

Enjoy!

Nice. Got any Ottaways there? Herb primarily built in 12" gauge.
