Hello My Friends
First off thank you for the very nice compliments, you are much too kind. And secondly, I don't consider contributing to one of my threads as high jacking. As a matter of fact, I really appreciate it when you all chime in or add photos and suggestions. At least I then know you are paying attention  Here is a photo of progress so far on the turret casing. As GWR Driver did, I also made some cardboard mock ups. This was a bit of a puzzle as the drawings and photos I have conflicted. The drawings showed one thing and the photos showed another. I went with the photos. Lots of angles and curves. More photos to come as progress progresses.
Happy Model Building
Jack

Hello My Friends
Here are a couple flix of progress on the J1e. The turret casing is mostly done. The recesses for the cab front doors were finished up and riveted in place with some #18 brass escutcheon pins, ( .050" shank & .090" head dia. ) Then the side and top doors were made from #26 gauge steel ( .015" ). The front and most of the turret frame was made from .045" steel. Some cool little hinges and hasps are coming from Brad the casting guy. There was a write up and some photos in the last Live Steam about these parts. Next up will probably be the cab roof as it ties in with the turret casing and neither can be finished up without the other. Also the back of the cab needs something. I'm not quite sure what to do with it as it currently has a solid back wall. Which is correct for a New York Central Hudson, but is rather inconvenient for a hand fired coal burning model. Decisions, decisions..what to do. Any suggestions.

Hello Jack, Thanks for compliments on the Okadees. I did not realise that I did not sign my post. The Hudson looks to be coming along quite nice. I truly enjoy reading your posts and "borrowing" some of your techniques such as scewing parts together prior to silver soldering. As per your asking, I will try doing a post of how the hinges were made.

Thanks, Vic

Hello My Friends
Here is a bit of an update on John's J1e. The cab is done and the compressor shields are done along with their mounting bracket and the compressor brackets. No shortage of things to do!

Jack,

Please forgive an ignorant question, but I'm only on my first build. Why are there 2 water gages on the backhead?

There are two for the two crew members in the cab. On for the engineer and one for the fireman.

Hello My Friends
Here are some snappies of progress on John's New York Central J1E. Large insulated steam lines to the booster engine have been made along with the stoker engine in which a Superscale economy injector hides. It uses the stoker engine exhaust line for the delivery pipe. The smoke consumers have also been made and fitted up. Lots of little trinkets to be made!

Beautiful work, but what is a smoke consumer?

Just to say, isn't it true how well executed piping and wiring will elicit the expression, "Beautiful work".
