What you say?!
If I asked you,"what is the #1 thing for a live steam club", what would you say?

a young group of friendly, loco building members with enough time and $$ to keep the track maintained.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.
Re: What you say?!
Every member has at least 1 steam engine that they run on a regular basis. People are always bringing some hardware for show and tell. No talk of politics or sex.

A man I highly respect gave me the answer when we were gathering support for the rebuilding of Pioneer Valley's elevated.
A Live Steam Club With No Track Is Just A Social Club.
That said without the freinds I've made the highline would never have been rebuilt. And I wouldn't now be co-chairman
of the ground line rehab.

Looking at some incredible craftsmanship and getting to talk to the craftsman themselves.
Rides, rides, rides!
Getting the kids interested in something that doesn't have a screen nor use batteries.

Some clubs have members who certainly have engines to run, but never come to maintain the tracks! Some clubs also have members who have no equipment to run, but are frequently at the club maintaining the tracks.SteveR wrote:Every member has at least 1 steam engine that they run on a regular basis. I think keeping the younger generation involved, and getting them involved is the single most important step in keeping the club in existence. Frequently at the GGLS you see three generations of one family having fun. A good club must be open to the younger generations.SteveM wrote:Looking at some incredible craftsmanship and getting to talk to the craftsman themselves.

I think it's at Waushakum there's a young fellow there who runs a train built by his great-grandfather. I was told that the train was 90 year old.RB211 wrote:Frequently at the GGLS you see three generations of one family having fun. A good club must be open to the younger generations.
