A while back someone asked “how do you set safety valves”. Really the only way to accurately set them is on steam. After all that is how they are used.

You can set them on air pressure but there is no heat present. The heat from the boiler expands the safeties and will change its set pressure.

I was going to make an air test rig but the new stationary boiler is so easy to just roll out and light off I abandoned that idea and I’m just using steam to set them.
