Whatever happened to that 1/2" scale ten wheeler that was in the picture you posted? Looked really nice...

After Dick's wife, Winnie, died in 1988, everything probably went to Los Angeles with the Sandy River train set. This may have included a very fine Pre-War toy train collection.

Scanned from a photo, here is the Sandy River 24 in the early days of construction. December, 1962.

Hi John, while you are scanning old photos, can you post a few of Tintern Abbey's build? Not to hijack this fine ongoing thread, but would sure like to see more than just the few I have seen in Modeltec.

Tintern Abbey.

I regret not taking more pictures of the bits and pieces. Maybe I was too busy with a new family, trying to hang on to the day job, or never gave it a thought at the time. Anyway, the major parts were machined or fabricated at the C&H Sugar Refinery, 1980-83, when I wasn't busy with company work. First fire lighting and run at Tilden was 30 years ago this coming weekend. Always remember with appreciation the applause as we eased off the turntable that first trial!

Wow, Thanks John!
I have the tender back and stored safely in the engine house now. All blemishes and minor imperfections/dents are fixed. Thin black scuff plate affixed to the tender footplate now. I will take some photo's next week and send them to you. Always enjoy the documentation of master machinists like you and others on this site!!
