Just how long is your version of the "Nullarbor Straight"? Was the idea to have an engineer and a fireman?

Full crew? I didn't see the conductor, head-end brakeman, rear brakeman, or flagman. :D

Our straight, refered to as the "Crenshaw Line" is currently 1400 feet to the first turn around, half of that being double tracked, with 2 passing sidings. We have another section of track laid that is just waiting for a turntable to be installed. This will make the straight just over 2000 feet.

the engine is propane fired so it really isnt too necessary but it was a lot of fun and put on a good laugh. We did take out some plants and may of put a scratch on the tunnel........ not to practical for 1.5 inch scale. But hey! We did it! The two and only!

i used to have a pic from the UK of a model Double Fairley with a seat out each side of the cab so they could fire each boiler and balance their weight. too cool!

On South Africa's NG/G xx Garratt locomotives you could see engineers sitting half or fully outside the cab:

near the end of the video you can see an (empty) seat

I remember watch a video on DirectTV or was it Dishnetwork. on those little garratts, the seats where set up to allow then to swing in on out of the cab.
that would be a monster to build for 7.X gauge :)
Thanks for sharing
