3/4" USRA Pacific

Guys

I am presently rebuilding a Pacific built by the Late George Hildreth of Waushakum Live Steamers.

The basic chassis is a little engines pacific with sand dome, cab, steam dome and running boards made to look like a USRA Heavy Pacific.

I believe the prototypes locos were deliverd to Erie RR.

Ken C of Waushakum from whom I obtained the loco has indicated the above.

The photo below was taken at PVLS, does anyone know when, also does anyone have any more history, when it was built, etc.

I have made a new copper boiler and rebuilt/replaced many parts that were worn.

I will post some more pictures of the rebuild in the next few days as she approaches completion.

Can't wait to see it run. Our club is pulling out all stops with 4-8-4's, 2-8-4's Pacifics, Hudsons, you name it.we got it. 3/4" scale is making a comeback.

It was only one day of the many Keith put into the boiler and project but I enjoyed it.

Nice job Mr.Wood. I am sure Both Georges approve[ Hildreth and Dimond]. At the Jersey meet that locomotive was in 3 plastic tubs. Are you working on a Guiness record for loco restoration? Can't wait to see her in steam again! WELL Done!!!!

Pat WLS, the pacific was the first engine that George Hildreth built , I think he built her in 1960 or 61 ?, the engine did run at the old Ashland track . The old steel boiler came from a hydraulic piston . The shot at PVLS good be early 60's just a guess .
Did you find any broken taps , or holes of different sizes on the rebuilt . Looks like she is coming along nicely , Old George would sure be proud .

Picture was taken some time between the early 6O's and prior to 1972. The seaming bay roof was brought to PVLS fom Danvers in early 60's form what I have herd, and the track was rebuilt around 1972, using guard rail post and a member coated all the ties with black roof tar & kerosene mixture, which is not there yet.

Hello My Friends
It's wonderful to see these 3/4" engines coming back to life. You have done a great job on the old gal. 3/4" is such a wonderful scale. It was heart breaking to see the small track at Los Angeles Live Steamers with weeds growing through the rotting ties back in the 1980's. Nowadays the small scale track is where it's at, with more steam than the 7-1/2" line during some of the meets. Next month I hope to start the grading for the high line up at Ponderosa. (The new place is on Ponderosa Drive) And I just like that name, it conjures up pleasant childhood memories. My mom literally jumping up and down on the couch hollering "get em' little Joe". I'll keep you posted on the high line progress, and a after some preparation hope to have some fun work days.
