Check with Dave Bortz. He's got some beauties. He bought the patterns from Superscale.

I have front (short) couplers both from Railroad Warehouse (no longer available) and recently from Dave Bortz.
Both are excellent. Dave's are available, and I highly recommend them.
The short coupler I acquired arrived ready to install. Very clean and scale casting.

Regarding 1.5 or 1.6 height, it seems to me that the last place one would need to get it exactly right on standard would be on the front of a steam locomotive. It is not like you are worrying about loosing your train when running backwards at track speed, right? The front coupler is mostly decorative, unless you plan to do a lot of switching. Make it look correct, so it pleases you.

I often use my steam engine for helper service, up the grade to push and down the grade for braking. I don't want to uncouple while braking for the engine in front of me! If you place your coupler at the standard height you won't have to limit what your engine can do or modify it later to expand its capabilities.
