My assumption is that this question is about reflex-style sight glasses, as opposed to the ones that actually have a prism on the front (?)

Power Model Supply used to make them with the true reflex ground glass. I had one - I loaned it to Howard Gorin. He was going to make them, but it's been a long time.

Here is a picture of Bob Deans Reflex water glass.
From his web page:
1-1/8" x 3-1/8". Unit tested to 150 PSI. Loctite Thread Locker applied to all setscrews and nuts. Nuts torqued to 8oz/inch. Light is refracted at different wavelength so waterline and below appears darker to eye and liquid level is apparent at a glance. This unit has been scaled down from a Nathan Reflex Glass (minus night light and shield) and will give working water travel of about 2 inches. Bottom of glass should be .500" above top of crown sheet minimum.

on top is 1 of 2 boiler preasure gauges, on the engineers side we have locomotive brake cylinder preasure and train line gauge, on firemans side we have steam chest preasure, vacuum indicator and water pump out put preasure...not seen and mounted on the tender is main res. air preasure
