Finally finished painting this beast. Time to put a fire in the girl for the first time and see where all my leaks are.

Putting fire to Northern for the first time.To get the most crap out of the boiler I put in 3 cheap safety valves and fired her up 3 different times. First time I pulled the fire at 60 lbs. then 90 lbs. and then 150 lbs. and blew her down each time. I found from experience the safteys get clogged with junk on the first firings. Now I put in Superscale safteys because I think most of the boiler debrie is out.

Hello Paul,
Congratulations! Your cab looks like a 'home cabin', ready to run! Just in time as a big christmas present.
Best luck to you and your engine!

Shortly I'm off to Florida for the winter meets. Always, A GREAT time of trains and fellowship with friends.
When I get back to the Keiser shops in March I'm going to drag in Mike's Northern and gaudy it up a bit with detail.
Example to follow of my 1690 Northern. I study pictures and then draw stuff out and then make it.
