Allen Mogul - First Run on air - Bill C

Post by Bill C »

Hi all,

Fred came over and set the valve timing on Sunday and then we fired up the air compressor for the first run on air. Here's a link to the video (pardon the poor camera work, but I was way too excited to notice my fingers in the way of the lens).

I started working on the frame in September of 2011, so it has taken three years of work - often just an hour or so each night - to get to this point.

I realize I'm only half way there, but it sure feels good to be this stage. To see all these little parts and pieces I've so carefully made move together as they should was quite a treat. Guess you can tell that in my voice in the video. I owe Fred a great deal of thanks for his constant guidance, especially teaching me how things are supposed to fit and how to make the proper adjustments.

Many thanks also to others who've posted answers on these pages and for John S. and the great photos on his Rock Island website. I sure have studied them a lot!

Best regards,

Bill C.

Congrats. It's a special moment when those wheels turn around without being pushed by hand.

Time to take it for a ride at the track! Stick an air compressed on a car behind the engine and giver!
