Centroid just released the lathe software for their new Acorn Step and direction motion Controller with true spindle encoder input.
Here is a link to a video showing it rigid tapping in a lathe, and then going back in again without damaging the threads, cutting a profile and then threading and rethreading over the same thread.

I've been Beta testing the new Acorn motion Controller for a year now. Great alternative to Mach3 and in many cases you can upgrade from a Mach3 parallel machine by unplugging from the PC parallel port and plugging into the Acorn's DB25 port. Especially if you are using a Geckodrive G540.
Industrial class motion Controller hardware and software from the same company now available to the step and direction market.
