Finally got my toolchanger working.
Youtube video of the toolchanger
I made the indexer carefully to minimize backlash. The toolchanger does not have a locking mechanism just yet. I'm relying on the wormgears to index and hold the tools in place. This is an 8" lathe with a 1/2HP spindle motor so I'm going to wait and see if a locking mechanism is necessary. If it is I aleady have the parts make a shot pin to hold the toolchanger in place.
I'm going to play with this thing for a while and see what I can come up with.

Jim:
That looks really cool.
Based on many past (bad) experiences, you are most likely going to want some sort of locking pin in there.
Things are going to wear a bit, gears get backlash, and before too long...
keep up good work....shows what can be done with ingenuity.

Too many things going on to bother listing them.
