While learning to cut dovetails I made a QCTP tool holder from aluminum for practice. It came out well but I didn't think it practical for holding tools so I put a DTI on it. Turns out to be one of the most used tool holders in my shop. The clamps are copies of Starrett's.

It's been changed a bit since that picture but the concept is the same.

Looks much like the one I made, John. Plunger type mounted to the broad side of holder, and a 90 degree angle 1/4" rod mounted on top for my Last Word.GadgetBuilder wrote:While learning to cut dovetails I made a QCTP tool holder from aluminum for practice. Can't imagine ever finding anything easier or faster to center work in a 4-jaw.
