Hi guys,

Thought I'd post some pics of the action here today. A few of you on here know of me and my RR, others may not, as I don't post on here very much. I've been building my RR here in Wisconsin, and last winter I decided to build a "rotary" plow.
Today is the first time out this winter with it, as we just got our first lasting snow this winter here on Thursday. The wind really howled and blew around the 5.5" of snow they say we received. Most of the mainline was blown clean, except for the cuts. The dispatcher was forced to call out the leased NS rotary and specially equipped dash nines for today's plow extra. After working upgrade through the pass and Allegheny tunnel, the first pic shows the plow extra and hardy conductor waiting to head back downgrade through the pass to clean up after the first pass with the rotary.
The next pics show working down to the tunnel, with pic #4 exiting the East portal of Allegheny tunnel. The snow really blows in on this side of the tunnel, as can be seen in pics # 5 -7. This one storm almost shut down the line for the winter, but fortunately the snow was light and fluffly, and we could punch our way through the 30" drift.
Pic #7 shows the plow extra in the big drift with a very satisfied conductor, as he knows that after returning back to the crew quarters, he will be rewarded with a cup of hot chocolate for his efforts. The last pic is at the junction, where the plow extra will back down the line from the right and tie up for the day. The mainline is open once again for business as usual, until the next big storm rolls in.
I shot video of the rotary in action working upgrade today, but it will probably be awhile before I can get it uplaoded. If you're interested, here is a link to1 of 2 videos of the rotary working from last winter; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIg1Aof2bpM . You can also take a video tour of my RR once you get there if you like.
Thanks for looking.

That's really cool! The most traumatic weather we get down here is flooding a couple times a year... we have to weigh the bridges down with cinderblocks... for some reason they won't let me drag rock filled hoppers out into the standing water! :D

It's really not too cold when you dress for it. The fun and excitement actually keeps me pretty toasty, until the winds wips up and blows some snow back in my face ! LOL .
