I always complain about the lack of nice machine tools in my area, but today I saw a couple of items I almost wish I needed. One is a TOS 11.5 by 49 mill. It looks pretty good. I don't know anything about the model, but if it's like other TOS tools, it will probably survive a nuclear blast with limited damage. They're asking $2500.

Some other guy is trying to unload a very clean-looking Wells Index mill for $1500.

The wells-index may me a B&S taper, but wells-index will regrind it to R8 for $200. Total price, still pretty nice for a home-shop sized Bridgeport.

Seems like everything I buy goes on sale right after I make my purchase!

A friend of mine needed a computer, this was back in the 80's when they cost $6,000 and did almost nothing. He kept saying "If I wait, they will get cheaper". And he waited and waited and 10 years later he bought a 386 computer. Right away he was angry because the 486's came out!

Gotta get in the game some time! I never seem to pick the right time but hey, that's life.

I guess if I waited for the absolute best deal I would never buy anything!

I really do know what you mean. I used to go to sales and auctions a long time ago. I ways always looking for something. Somebody else found it before or later. Heck that went was for autos too. Someway or another I get to boards like these where I cannot excactly say how great it worked, right off. It required work and what lasts is some knowledge of how things Didn't fit or turned better than I thought at the time. That is experience which i tend to impart at times. It isn't because it was perfect. Never doubt your origional rationalization. That becomes clouded but you pulled the trigger when fresh and there is a machine which has these qualities.
I had been looking off and on for some collets. This was for a small Bridgeport Right Angle attachment. That would be for an M head extender in some cases. I initially fretted about the goings on where the larger #1 and #2 were selling reasonable and had more capacity.
Yet THAT wasn't why I had origionally reasoned towards the smallest one and that made sense at the time. Then it didn't, then I checked some recent prices for the B2 collets.
So over time it made sense.

I'm so glad I haven't seen any amazing lathe deals since my lathe shipped.
