Iron or die cast? Go to www.lathes.co.uk, then EMCO, then Unimat DB/SL There is a very extensive story about the early Unimats there. Might help ID the model.

Most of the time free is about as good as it gets. As has been stated lathes.co.uk then EMCO, then Unimat DB/SL will get you lots of info about the early cast iron Unimats and the later die cast ones. If it is a DB200 with small red or black name plate it is probably cast iron. If it is green hammer tone with a large square name plate it is probably die cast. If SL, then in small leters, Model DB200 it is ZAMAC. If it is SL1000 is is aluminum.
There is a unimat group on Yahoo groups and it would be to your benefit to join and have a look at past Posts. Another group, Unimat3, is more for the Unimat 3 users and other EMCO machines but does have info for the older Unimats from time to time.
Good luck and have fun with you new machine. It can do a lot more than most believe.
