The Home Machinist!

Hi all,


can someone give the correct size of this typesigns.
I need it to create the signs for our locos , we need it for the "A" the "Y" and the "J" class.
I dont know any dimension of the Writing the diameter and the Thickness.
I also need the dimensions of the signs from the cylinders.
It will be very nice if someone can help me out with my problems.

The VMT recently took full ownership the 'J'..... Both 611 and the (A-class) 1218 are on display there, and have been since being moved from Birmingham after the Norfork Southern ended their steam program.

Maybe you can get someone at the museum to take the dimensions that you need directly off the engines.

I'm unsure of the type size but the diameter of the builders plates from N&W was 10-3/4". Import a photo of the plate into photoshop use it to get the proper proportions and work from there.

Yeah i can try this but the correct size is important for me because i wanne have it in the correct scale size.

great thanks you. I searched there but not for builders plate....my bad.
I often have this problem , but my english is not so good i.
I searched at the NWHS for drawings of the J frame.
I found nothing because i searched for the word frame and not for the correct word engine bed.
So thanks for your exactly search and link.
