I trust you're making reference to the V12, not Rich's magnificent model, eh?

If that's the case, you are right. It is not an engine. If it was intended to operate as one, it would have proper gearing for the cams. They should operate at half engine speed, and they don't. That's not to minimize how nice the workmanship is. It's just not a functional model.

I beg to differ. It may not be an internal combustion engine, but it's a working engine. He's running it on compressed air (I think) but could easily run it on steam.

Besides, the valve cam gears are valid for a 2-stroke diesel.

I think this shows the difference between people who machine to make things that work, and people who machine because they love machining. I can't understand why anyone would make an "engine" that doesn't do anything useful and can't even burn fuel. This is why I'll never be a real machinist. I'll always be a guy who got machine tools in order to make stuff that does things I want done.

Yep.....

But Mr Luhr's stuff runs on fuel, and some of it would fit entirely inside that V12 crankcase.....

Speaking of which, the crankcase is quite thin, and looks assembled, but must be soldered or welded.... no brazing color seems visible, and I didn't see fasteners.... Anybody see any clues I missed?
