I came across this video of a 7 ¼ gauge N & W class A 1218. This is some locomotive. It even has the auxiliary tender that the engineer is controling the locomotive from. That’s a neat concept.

Seems like in other parts of the world sitting on the tender isn't as common as it is here. I've seen a lot of stuff like this and i dont know why but a lot of these guys build these engines and sit on ridding cars or whatever and run with rods and cables to the cab. You would think its more difficult and so much more work? How do you run your injectors and adjust your blower etc etc...?

Just like 10's of 1,000's of locomotives on elevated tracks around the world. :lol:

It certainly looks better to me without the over-scale engineer on the tender. It looks more like the prototype.

My buddies and I took a tip from Carl & Charlie Purinton and ran our 7-1/4" steamers in a prone position by kneeling in the first car and resting our chest on the tender cushion. Fantastic view through the cab windows and down the running boards and far more stable than being perched up high.

Interesting that you posted that picture... I have an International Miniatures 4-4-0 in the shop right now. However, it is missing the monkey... :lol:
