The subjects of this forum and the machining sections have been invaluable in completing this project.

Very nice. I see some of your other projects in the last picture.

Re: Completed My Allen 10 Wheeler
it must be a PRIORITY thing...
something about a SHOP with a COUCH in it that makes we wonder.....
beautiful job...
so you sit on the couch, drink beer and admire your work....???
do I spy a couple of Van Brocklin type hydrolubic staticators under the running boards?

Re: Completed My Allen 10 Wheeler
It is a thing of beauty. They have a simple look to them and I think that is what I find so appealing. All the Allen engines share some specific traits (if built to print using all the castings) which relates them, but they become unique with the finishing touches like paint color and leaving certain peices in their raw metal. Because there is no absolute specific protoype, the rivet counters are left speechless as well. Great job. Can't wait to see the whole Engine and tender on the rails!

what is wrong with rivet counters...?
let's see....there are 240 holes and 240 rivets!
Count MUST BE CORRECT!

Don't see the problem Bill. I've had couches in two shops.Bill Shields wrote:it must be a PRIORITY thing...

I looked at it the other way, engine in the living room.
After 9 years, Maybe that's where she belongs. Always did like ten wheelers.

never could get the wife to allow a loco in the living room...
but then shavings on the couch can lead to metal in the butt syndrome...

That's beautiful Rob, and don't feel bad about 8-9 years, that's fast by my standards (28 years and counting...). You have to be really looking forward to spring! It must be so satisfying to be done.
As for the engine in the living room, it reminds me of the late John Parker. I was amazed he was married to a non-machinist and had a Bridgeport in his family room, and he simply said "it was here before she was".

Beautiful locomotive! You must be a patient man, I'd be at the nearest track with a snow shovel at the first opportunity.
