I have several 23D-6108A steppers.
I guess they are now known as 23D108S from Anaheim Automation.

Rating on the outside of the stepper motor is 3.9A.
Can I assume that is for the whole motor? Or is it per coil?
Thank you,
Mike
Stepper motor current question. 3.9 A per motor or per coil

Re: Stepper motor current question. 3.9 A per motor or per
Mike,
In all my research I've not seen any rated per coil. Just amp draw on the motor as a whole.

review how a stepper motor operates. as to produce one step, then the next set of coils is energized , so each coil set will draw the rated current and is the same as the motor rating.

The video would have been better if the author understood and demonstrated that movement is a tooth at a time instead of speaking incorrectly that an A to B transition would be 45 degrees.

My motors can be wired in series or parallel, so that affects the current rating. The spec on the motor in question (the 23D108S anyway) appears to be 2.7A bipolar series RMS current and you are already wired in series with a center tap.
