We briefly discussed what a nice size narrow gauge on 4.75" track was in another thread. I didn't want to hijack it, but here are some examples of 3 foot gauge models I've seen at the St Croix.
First, a couple of the late Dave Gumz with his beautiful equipment. Dave was a joy, one of those guys fired up and running before breakfast.
A couple of Fred Wright's Mogul. Fred also has a 1.5" scale narrow gauge Shay.

Jeff Smith's C-25 2-8-0
Terry Woolsley's WP&Y diesel
Tim Olson's K-36 2-8-2
I really don't understand why it is a scale and gauge that hasn't taken off. You can use all the 1.5"/1.6" detail parts that are out there, Jeff Smith makes great DRGW narrow gauge car castings, and it is pretty easy to move and store.

might also be a path to revitalizing the apparently waning interest in 1" scale.jcbrock wrote:I really don't understand why it is a scale and gauge that hasn't taken off. ....
Re: 1.5"/1.6" Narrow Gauge
I think it's a great scale. The few people I know in this 1.5" narrow gauge have some of the most interesting equipment and it fits just perfectly for the EBT models I'm hoping to begin in the future. There should be a movement to this!

There are several of us out on the west coast who are currently pursuing 1.5+" narrow gauge for 4.75". Perfect for a backyard railroad.

Hi David,
The railroad and locomotive (and me) are still here. It's just a loop around the house with a spur. It's amazing how much fun you can have going around in circles. If your ever in Paso Robles Ca. let me know and we can do just that.
