This gent phoned me a while back about some history on the engine. She is supposed to be hidden in the abiss of the Ottawa Museum along with Massies' Challenger and...............? If you look at your TSME video, you can see Mr Mottshaw and his Hudson on the track at TSME acres.
Now if we only knew where Harry Gerrie's engine went to?

It is not the one for sale on Kijiji right now (Markham/York Region) but I understand this one was built by Al Milburn.

The locomotive posted on Kijiji is Dave Jarvis's old locomotive. He was an electrician for CPR and I think lived in the Tottenham area of Ontario. This engine was a 1/2" scale loco widened out to 3/4". I have pictures of it running on the old Sunparlor Lines track in Windsor Ontario in the early sixties. Dave passed away a few years back from what I was told.

Yes, Dave Jarvis had the locomotive but he didn't build it. I have a copy of a letter Mrs. Jarvis gave me from the person Dave bought it from (a Mr. George Murray of Manchester, Connecticut). Mr. Murray did not construct the locomotive either. The letter says that the locomotive was originally constructed by Al Milburn. The letter also says that Al. Milburn and Al. Roedding knew each other well.

Mrs. Jarvis also gave me a biography of Dave a part of which states " David bought a live steamer in Connecticut in the fall of 1960. He was nicknamed "Steamer" by friends and enjoyed taking "6059" to meets in Windsor and Milton among other places".

Dave did start building a CNR 5700 series Hudson in 7.25" gauge. It was one of a trio of three 7.25" gauge Hudsons constructed by Messrs. Roedding, Douglas and Jarvis. The Roedding Hudson, I believe, was the only one ever finished and was later acquired by Carl Hoffman and is now in the USA. The Roedding Hudson was supposed to be a NYC J-1e but in reality it was a B&A J2 Hudson. Ask Mike Green how he knows.

The Al Milburn loco was a 4-8-4 built to the LBSC design as published in the Modelmaker magazine.
It was widened to 3 - 1/2" gauge by George Murray and was at one time owned by Pierre Maurer of Nutley, New Jersey.
I rode behind it fifty years ago when it was owned by Mr. Maurer.

The Milburn/Murray/Jarvis locomotive has found a new home with a GHLS member. It was out at the track for a run last Sunday. No word yet on how she did.
