Here are some pics of the fire door on Rainier #90, a 2-8-2 logging loco, with a foot-long shoe on top, for scale.
It shows the standard door Baldwin used on many such locos.
All 4 full-sized steamers I have helped rebuild and operate all had these doors.
And my model of #90 will also have one... when I get to that part of construction.

And here is a "flat" door in the same style on Santa Fe 5011. Note the oil firing valve at left,
and just left of that is the damper valve with the handle pointing nearly directly at the camera.
This door looks like a variation of the other door but without the damper.

Chris:
If you get parts laser cut to fabricate this door, please keep me in that loop. I would purchase a set, too.
Perhaps purchase your set for you, to be fair?

A Shay drawing I found in my collection. This is at reduced resolution for posting. Since this assembly drawing is from Lima, there is a good chance that the drawings for the individual parts are available from CSRM or the Allen County Historical Society.

Bob Chamberlain wrote:Thanks for the help, have contacted railroad supply and he has nothing available, David moores door is very nice but makinsmoke, is right this is for coal. That being said how do I get in touch with this GS1 Donald guy let me no thanks. the photos you(makinsmoke) provided are what I am looking for .
Donalds (GS14403) father is Ed who is helping me with my locomotive. Ed shows up here on Chaski from time to time under the name "LSGOD". I told him about this thread so he may pop on and say hi.

Here is the oil fire door on my Shay. It has an overfire damper in the bottom. To the left you can see the lever that adjusts it.
