This guy is building a 3.5" ga. boiler from 16 ga. steel sheet with a 16ga. copper back head, Don't know what the firebox will be.
Ever heard of doing this?

I'm glade he is in the UK far from me. It should steam well for a while until it rust out and blows.

He will never be able to use this boiler on a club track in England, as the inspector would never give this boiler a pass. Another example of someone working by themselves without benefit of joining a club or ever looking at drawings of other typical boilers.

In the comments he wrote that he put that one aside and made a copper boiler.

Well, that's interesting! Maybe someone gently tapped him on the shoulder. He did post several other videos of his progress. The copper boiler never showed up in the other videos. Hmmm....

It was not all that long ago that there was a sheet metal brass vertical boiler on the cover of one of our favorite magazines

Ten there was (is) the guy who built a pretty good sized boiler for a 7-1/2" gauge loco and calculated that he did not need any stay bolts between the outer wrapper and the firebox because the flat surfaces were strong enough and the mud ring would handle all of the load..shudder...

IIRC the shell was also made from an old oxygen cylinder (which may or may not be good material -> never had one checked)...
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I remember that guy.
And he said he had hydro tested the boiler and the side sheets only bulged out a little bit!!!
