For Sale
Brand New old stock, Hydrostatic Lubricator assembly from Power Models. I have seen one of these used on a steam pump, and I saw one used as a lubricator for a locomotive. They are pretty neat to see working and plumbed up. I attached a picture of the instructions.

How does a setup like this work? Not sure I get it from reading the instructions.
All the hydrostatic lubricators I have seen are pretty simple affairs.

Re: Hydrostatic lubricator from Power Models
Steve most of what you have seen on Stuart Turner Engines are simple displacement lubricators where the Power Models is a true hydrostatic lubricator. With this type of lubricator you can throttle the oil flow very precisely. The oil is displaced similar to the simple lubricator, but in this case it is forced through a metering valve and the drop can be seen rising up through water in the sight glass. By regulating the number of drops per minute you can control the amount of oil delivered.SteveM wrote:How does a setup like this work? Not sure I get it from reading the instructions.

People who know more than me use glycerol in the sight glasses instead of water. Seems to work better, but I'm not sure why... Any ideas?
