The gauge glass at the IBLS site is a "flat style" gauge glass, but, I do not think is it a "reflex" type. The back of the gauge is completely solid.

Yes Pete, the tube is encased in the body with provisions for teflon disks(washers) at both ends of the tube. The top piece for the steam is threaded and screws into the top of the body, thereby compressing the tube between the two gaskets.
