Bill Yoder-the 3/4-inch audit guy

Post by keyrouteken »

Hi Everybody-- Bill Yoder in Germany who has amassed a large listing of 3/4" locomotives and photographs, is still looking for the whereabouts of a Langworthy Hudson.
He describes this item thusly :
" One of my main questions now: I’m listing the original Langworthy Hudson, code designation “464.NYC5297.Langworthy”, as sold and relettered to Southern #1501. Is that correct, is that really the same loco? Who can help me out? "

Anybody know ?

Bill Yoder : kant50@web.de

Cheers.

Bill Yoder has just updated his 3/4 inch scale registry. It now contains 457 locomotives in 14 PDF files! Even if you don't model in 3/4 inch it is well worth your time to browse through this amazing collection.

The unknown Niagara #6000 on page 40 of part 11, maybe Harold Crouch’s of Fingerlakes Live Steamers. It was sold to Jonathan Liebabe (spelling maybe wrong) of Massachusetts. Both have passed away.

Jonathan Leiby is the correct spelling.

that loco is not Harold's..it never had a cab in any of the pictures or 'real life' encounters that I saw.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Harold had a cab on it when he visited the NJLS many years ago. It had no running boards and no cab roof, but it did have a cab.
However....that is not his 4-8-4 pictured on page 40 of the roster.

ah...ok...no cab roof.....giggle....well I was 2/3 correct which is better than average.

Maybe he had taken the cab sides off before I saw it.

will need to go back and look at Jim's pictures for personal edification.

The last time I spoke with Jon Leiby about it (around 2009), the frames were 'tweeked' as the result of a collision with the ground, and the axles would not turn.

which means 'no tender'.....Everett died before he got started on it.

I was helping him design a propane burner for it.

Jon Leiby had his eye on this loco...was waiting for the museum to decide they wanted to do something with it besides sit in a back room.
