3d printed parts
Have a question apart from the essentially castings have people had success with 3d printed bronze parts in brake hangers, motion brackets etc, also what is the shrinkage allowance given for making a pattern to cast in bronze do you need to allow percentage bigger in your master.
Re: 3d printed parts
Are you asking about 3d printed patterns for casting bronze or is there a process people are doing and printing bronze directly?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: 3d printed parts
The shrinkage allowance for patterns is generally about 1 - 2% depending on the metal being poured. This is in addition to any machining allowance where the casting requires machining.pollockmarine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 1:47 pm what is the shrinkage allowance given for making a pattern to cast in bronze do you need to allow percentage bigger in your master.

On Youtube, Myfordboy just posted a new video on lost PLA casting from his 3D printer. He used a hybrid mould using both investment and green sand. The metal was aluminum. It suggests what can be done with a PLA pattern.

I haven't tried this yet, but it on my list of filaments to try for lost wax casting.
