Policy Changes at Ridge Locomotive Works

Post by Marty_Knox »

Effective Immediately I will no longer provide firm quotes on any project.
ALL work will be done on a time and materials basis.
My current shop rate is $90 per Hour, Materials will be billed at cost plus 25%.

I will be completing all current orders under the original terms.
I will also honor any quotes I gave in the last 90 days.

Fluctuating steel prices driving you nuts?

Btw, Is there any 2.5" scale K27's boilers coming up at your place?

I built a 2.5" scale K-27 boiler 6 or 7 years ago.
I had an extra set of parts formed at that time - they are still sitting on the shelf.
I've had a number of inquiries, but no orders.

We are just ecstatic you are still willing to take on projects! Do what you need to and we will adjust.

Speaking of projects - Do you think I have enough?

Hi Marty,
How do we go about budgeting for a boiler if we don’t know what the total price will be?

Respectfully,

Well, Brian, I will give an estimate, but this just an approximation.
What adds to the cost is when the customer adds things, like mounting the water glass, or more washouts.
Crating and shipping have always been additional.
