Fea Market Score

Post by armscor 1 »

These items bought at local flea market, Micrometer looks very old, does not have ratchet but has a smooth clutch arrangement.
The bore gauge is used to measure a blind hole .100 thou from the end, no idea what it is used for other than measuring hydraulic cylinders, hope someone can shed a light on this one.

bore gages are used for accurately measuring inside diameters. You would normally use a setting ring or a mic to set a reference, or zero. Then use the DI to track the amount of material to be removed. One thing that sets them aside from an inside mic is that they usually have some way of keeping the measurement straight across, or through the axis of the hole. So, you can sweep the stylus up and down in the bore.

This gauge has a square shoulder .100 thou from stylus centreline designed to but up against shoulder in blind hole giving the measurement straight across.
