Making a Silicone Soldering Brush

Post by Jim Dobson »

How to make a silicone soldering brush.
You won't believe just how well these work. I wished I'd had one of these years ago. No more burnt small paintbrushes and you can custom make any size of these you wanted, thick bristles, thin bristles, solid etc etc
A great bit of kit!

Here's the YouTube link, for the life of me I can't get videos to show up on The Home Machinist.

Nice Jim,

I have to solder a bunch of copper tubing to make a diy air cooler for my compressor, not sure if I need something like this or not but it looks like it works well for you.

That will save me some grinding when I silver solder bandsaw blades.

The radiator industry uses fiberglass bristle brushes, so if you have fiberglass cloth you can do the same using the strands.

I rather doubt silicone will stand up to silver soldering temperatures.

Silicone rubber will not tolerate the temperature necessary to silver solder.

Yes Harold, it won't stand up to silver brazing temps.
