Re: 4014 Schedule Article for 2019, Trains Magazine

I'm not sure whether or not the 4014 can make it to St. Paul like the Challenger. I'm hoping it can.

Re: 4014 Schedule Article for 2019, Trains Magazine

Mark, You might be able to see it if it comes to St. Paul, like the the Challenger did. I myself chased the Challenger from Owatanna to Northfield and rode it from St Paul to Des Moines. I also saw it when it was on display in St. Paul and then chased it from Shakopee to Mankato. You wouldn't believ...

Re: Minneapolis and future Light Rail

With the Southwest LRT running in a few years. I myself might be using it to go to the 261 shop for one their trips. I could park in Eden Prairie, load the bike on the light rail car, and then bike to the shop from one of the stops In downtown Minneapolis, which is just about 2 miles. To answer John...

Re: Santa Train Again at SPUD

Mark, The camera is located just east of the North Pole village at the railfan picnic area. So when the middle of the train stops at the North Pole, the camera shows the tender and the first car. Here is a link to the camera. You can at least see the engine pulling to a stop about 10 minutes after d...

Re: Santa Train Again at SPUD

Mark, I only know of one other camera and that is too far west on the other side of the concourse. Here is a link to it anyway. https://www.uniondepot.org/transit/trains/amtrak-webcam1/ I'm sure the cameras they have on the platform are probably closed circuit. I'll keep on looking for more though. ...

Re: Santa Train Again at SPUD

Here is some screenshot pictures of the 261 from the Railfan Cam at SPUD. This link should take you to the live camera if you want to see the 261 for yourself. It will appear about 10 minutes after departure for almost 30 minutes while the train is stopped at the North Pole. You might also be able t...

Re: Save the L & A 503 steam locomotive on GoFundMe page

Mark, The engine was donated to the city in 1957. The current GoFundMe site is for buying the engine from the scrapper and getting the engine out of the park and to the Texas State Railroad. There was no public hearing about disposing of it. It was only through a recent newspaper article that the fa...

Save the L & A 503 steam locomotive on GoFundMe page

This might be a first, but a GoFundMe page has been setup to save the L & A 503 steam locomotive in Port Arthur, TX, from being scrapped, which may take place sometime next week if there isn't enough money raised by then. Otherwise they will at least try and save the appliances. If it is saved, ...
