Re: NC&StL 576 4-8-4 Move Completed

I wonder what's in store for it after it is 'repaired'?

Re: Friends of the 261 is Acquiring A Milwaukee Road E9

Not to worry about not knowing this or that, I'm only giving out a wild guess myself. I would like to see that though, because then we could run the steam engine on more tracks than just the TC&W.

Re: Friends of the 261 is Acquiring A Milwaukee Road E9

I don't know any more about it than you or anyone else who isn't named Steve Sandberg. However, my fertile mind sees a work-around with the costly PTC. I sort of foresee this diesel locomotive having a PTC controller that would treat the steam engine braking the same as the rest of the train. But th...

Re: Well...

The 'transom' of the tender does have a pronounced curve. Reason? I have no clue.

Re: Minneapolis and future Light Rail

John, the reason I don't like what they're doing is that, from what I have read, is that they are going to rearrange traffic patterns by the use of signals and bus only in a (hopefully fails) attempt to discourage people from driving themselves to where they want to go. Since I live roughly 70 miles...

Re: Minneapolis and future Light Rail

I don't live in Minneapolis. I was born there and grew up in the Mpls. western suburbs. After I was married and had our first child I knew full well that my kids weren't going to school in the Twin Cites or their burbs. I moved 70 miles west to a small city (Litchfield) that had an excellent school ...

Minneapolis and future Light Rail

It seems that Minneapolis is intent on getting rid of the automobiles in Favor of light rail everywhere. Banning gasoline stations, banning ... Well, I won't be darkening Minneapolis' doors in the future if this comes to reality. The plan is to get rid of almost all cars. Read this; I cannot post th...

Re: The Indiana Transportation Museum Just Can't Get A Break

I wonder what's going to happen to that locomotive now. Will it be repaired to as it was by the movers insurance? Or ?

Re: The Indiana Transportation Museum Just Can't Get A Break

They would have had a better chance, but they weren't very well financed so they very well could have lost their property had they 'owned' it. 'owned' means probably a mortgage on the property. On the other hand, I don't have any insight on their finances, only what shows in their day to day operati...

Re: The Indiana Transportation Museum Just Can't Get A Break

I've been reading about ITM on other boards. It is a totally incompetent management that causes them to not get a 'break'.

Re: Union Pacific Has Applied For PTC Waviers For Its Steam Engines

When I saw this title I also wondered the same thing. Since nothing exists to work in a steam locomotive for PTC it's either waver or go out of business. I'm going to do some research and see if someone else has already done that and we don't know about it... yet.

Except we did all that inside the shop where Steve had rented a super gigantic version of a Salamander style heater.
