Patrick C. Dorin, author & railroad historian

Postby bsd_mike » Thu Nov 20, 2014 9:29 am

My father, Patrick C. Dorin has died at the age of 75.
He was an avid railfan and wrote literally dozens of railroad history books, starting with
Lake Superior Iron Ore Railroads, in 1970.

I believe he was a fantastic railroad historian and a good father...I will miss him.

You have my sincere condolences. I cherish my copy of your father's book on the Lake Superior iron ore railroads. He sure knew his stuff.

I understand your loss, Mike, from personal experience. I have to look through my huge collection of railroad books mostly inherited from my dad years ago and see if I have one of your dad's books. I know there's a lot on the great lakes railroads. and the Minnesota mining railroads. That, because my dad was somewhat of a foamer. That, and my mother was from Duluth.
