The American Freedom Train Returns ....

Postby BurlingtonJohn » Tue Jul 04, 2017 8:46 pm

It has been chronicled many times before and the details don’t need to be repeated. On March 22nd 2002, 4449 was resplendent in the r/w/b of the American Freedom Train once again. I was able to meet several fellow railfan friends on the trip to Bend and back. Best railfan memory ever ....

Happy Independence Day everybody!

Regards,
Burlington John

The photo's keep on popping up, but it will likely never happen again, or at least not in our lifetimes, so let's keep the memories alive. Keep the photo's circulating.

If only the Freedom Train would make another appearance. With only brief stints on the 2101 engine crew and chasing or gong through the train the Freedom Train easily is the best thing I have seen on rails in my lifetime. Only the Chessie Steam Special trains come even a reasonably close second.
