LRT in Minneapolis

Postby Mark D » Fri Jul 14, 2017 9:05 am

Tony; In reading your post about "A Twin Cities Local I Love To Catch" I went into your website. I see a lot about the rancor regarding LRT, the real railroads and the happy trails people.
I haven't seen much in the news lately and am wondering what's up with that?
Apparently the happy trails people don't want any railroad anywhere if they could have their way.
Do you have any sort of upshot on what has happened recently?

Hi Mark,

It looks like Southwest LRT is still a go. They are supposedly opening for bidding on the first contract in August. Looks like I need to get a ticket for the 261's fall color trips so I can enjoy the old Louie by the city lakes from a train before massive changes come.

You should buy a ticket anyway. You'll get to ride some class 2 track, bumps and all, but historic in some way, I'm told. If you do, look me up. I'll be there for sure unless I die or something.
