Amtrak Charger on 381/382

Caught 4615 in consist of the Carl Sandburg today at BNSF's West Quincy Missouri yard as it awaited to go back on 382 to Chicago. First picture was shot from the US-24 bridge over the yards. Went down to the old Amtrak parking lot to see if I could get a decent shot. #2 is the strangest looking wheel chock I've ever seen. #3 is evidence I couldn't get a clean shot.

My first view of what they call a 'Charger'. Where does that name come from and why?
That chock does look a bit weird. Looks to me like it'll wrap up a cable around something if they roll before removing.

Mark, I don't know who came up with the name Charger. Siemens perhaps? Sure is something different. I guess I feel the same way when the GEs showed up to replace the F40s ...

I also noticed that the windshield seems to be huge. To me that looks like lots of money to replace every time some dumbass vandal tosses a brick at it. There was a reason why GE and EMD had identical windshields for a while, maybe still do. It was because the railroads asked for it so they didn't have to keep two styles in stock.
At least, that's what I read in TRAINS.
