Re: Dividing Plate Sizes

...But please, don't get upset about it... Don't you have it sort of turned around ? Who was anal enough to go out to the shop, work through the hole pattern exercise, time it and post the results, LOL, without a comparison of any other method, BTW. You ARE a talented and experienced guy (despite y...

Re: Dividing Plate Sizes

I think that this is one of the major reasons why I left this forum several years ago. People seem to become so very concerned and stressed over such TRIVIAL ISSUES - sheesh, get a life Torch ! For those who would like to play with my spread sheet that allows definable error, send me a PM with your ...

Re: Dividing Plate Sizes

...Should I just make a few plates with numbers divisible by 2, 3, 5, and 7? No, many divider plates, I might even say most, are prime number hole patterns. Best way to figure out what you want is to do a search for a commercial dividing head with the worm ratio you want and see what they specify f...

Re: Dividing Plate Sizes

An old machinist's trick to make dividing plates is to make paper or card templates and mount them on the dividing head to make more accurate iron copies, - Nick That should work, good suggestion. Make a scale layout in your favorite CAD application, print out the various hole patterns, attach to b...

And it doesn't really need to be ptoo recise since the accuracy will be multiplied by the worm gear ratio ...

Re: Bullet Concentricity Tool

I've reloaded for forty years (ten different calibers) and not seen a nifty little rig like yours. I never thought of building something like that although the .300 Win mag and .25-06 (even with its target barrel) could greatly benefit. Thanks for the excellent idea and very nice work !

Re: Determining Tap Size

Coincidentally I just did this three days ago and the acquisition of a full set of stainless fasteners (one of each) cost $22. That will be money well spent ! Just curious, did you buy these locally or did you mail order them? By a full set, did you buy just 1 of each (screw & bolt I assume)? M...

Re: Determining Tap Size

...You might try to find a store* where you can buy small amounts of machine screws and outfit yourself with UNC and UNF versions of all the sizes from zero to six.... That is an excellent idea: to have a bolt (or screw) and a nut for both coarse and fine threads from about #2 up to about an inch. ...

Re: Arbor Press Improvement

I modified my ram last night. It's 1.25" square (too big for the spindle bore), so I had to drill the hole using my drill press. Is it really necessary to m/c the flats on the "pushers"? I can thread mine in & out of the ram quite easily by hand. As BadDog suggested, the day will...

That's a very good suggestion and I will take it :)
