Re: Paint question

I did this PSC 40ft boxcar using Rustoleum "Rusty Metal" Primer as my basecoat. I did a finish coat using Klass Kote satin 2-part epoxy.

Re: Super scale economy injector question

I believe it's city water and believe it's relatively hard but regardless it only seems to affect the injector :D I've not had issues with my boiler checks even though I do clean them as well post run just to make sure. I too am now doing what NP317 suggests and fill with air and blow out the inject...

Re: Super scale economy injector question

FWIW, I have a Super Scale Economy Injector on my Kozo A3 and mine will not work unless I take it apart and clean it after every run, which is what I do. If I forget, it will not work the next time I run. After many runs, I began cleaning the injector and noticed during my cleaning that the check wa...

Re: Kozo A3 3/4 scale up and running sort of

I've built a 1.5" scale Kozo A3 and it runs like a dream and always has. I've got my hand pump plumbed into my axle pump. Regardless of how you currently have it you will have to prime it before you leave the bay. If you don't prime the pump it will never work. Actually that's not entirely true...

Re: Smokebox high temp paints

I went with this Eastwood product. It's since been re-labeled and I believe you can now buy it in cans which is really nice. I bought black and grey and originally, on my engine, I mixed a custom color but after I lived with it for a few months I ended up repainting with the stock grey color which i...

Re: Piston Ring Question

Turns out it was Hercules Sealing Products, PS1600 series of hydraulic seals. Does anyone know if these will work for piston valves? Nah, those won't work for valve rings. My Kozo is slide valve. Don Yungling mentioned using cast iron transmission hook style rings in the piston valves of his his SP...

Believe I got mine from HydraPak but don't quote me on that. I'll go back and see where the invoice came from.

FWIW, I was astounded by the options for sizes ...

Re: FN or Chloe on propane BTU requirements?

Checkout Harlock's old posts for the Chloe burner setup. Most I believe are doing 6 burners on a rectangular manifold. My Kozo A3 is similar size and I have 8 burners but I may end up going back to 6. I can't really "idle" the loco. It's either hot or it's hotter. :)
